Bicton events in 2005
At Bicton events for 2005 begin early with an Easter egg hunt for the children on the two days of the Easter weekend Sunday 27th March and Monday 28th March. Every child is guaranteed and egg and best of all there’s no extra charge.
On Sunday 15th May the British Cactus and Succulent Society will be at Bicton Gardens all day. Through the day there will be illustrated talks, plant sales and advice on growing your own cacti and succulents. Don’t miss the amazing collection in the Arid House that’s there for you to enjoy all year round. In May, many of the plants will be in bloom. Again, there’s no extra charge for all this free information.

Friday 1st July finds the
Bicton Orchid Conservation Project
holding an Orchid day. Find out more about the project, buy your own orchid seedlings and learn about ways that you can help save the special places in the rainforest where orchids grow in the wild. Do your bit for the environment; learn about these fascinating plants and all for a single admission price.
On a completely different “note” if you are a member you can enjoy the picnic and live jazz event being held at Bicton on the evening of 28th July. Top trombonist Roger Marks and the Armada Jazz Band are a six-piece band from Plymouth who will be playing a selection of ‘trad jazz’ for your enjoyment. At the end of the concert there’s a chance to see the firworks display to close the show.
If jazz isn’t really your thing then how about a picnic and listening to The Fab Beatles Show on 11th August? This Exeter based band is making their first appearance at a Bicton event and they have been widely approved for their authentic sound and look. The first part of the evening will be songs from the Beatles early years from 1962 – 1966 while the second part covers songs popular between 1967 to 1970.
The two picnic evenings are for members only and it’s vital to book in advance so visit the Bicton website and get your own annual membership now. Tickets for these events sell really quickly but Bicton Park Gardens are fantastic value for money all year round, you only need to go a couple of times and you’ve got your money back. Well worth it in my opinion.
Members get the opportunity to join in exclusive Bicton events and as well as free entry to the gardens all year round you also get a 5% discount on anything you buy in the Tea Rooms, Garden Centre and Restaurant. What have you got to lose?
