Special East Devon events being held in 2013. We've tried to include a good variety but there's so much happening every week that it's sometimes tricky to include everything.

The cast put on a hilarious selection of the best know sketches. Starting at 7:30pm. 11th May The Rat Pack with Kenny Lynch, David Alacey, Des Coleman and Paul Drakeley at The Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth. The music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Junior comes to Sidmouth. All your favourite show stopping hits. Starting at 7:30pm. 11th May - 29th June The Beekeeper and the Bee at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Dowell Street, Honiton. Charcoal drawings and oil paintings of bees and beekeepers throughout the year by Kate Lynch. There are a surprising number of activities related to keeping these industrious little insects. Kate spent a long time drawing, painting and interviewing the beekeepers. Fast moving farce with a complicated story of matchmaking, relationships and hidden identities ending in total mayhem, confusion and hilarity. 16th - 18th May Devon County Show, Westpoint, Exeter. Six show rings where you can meet the animals and enjoy the grand parades. The best of Devon. Follow Alice into a wonderland of dance with this highly acclaimed production for all the family. 26th May Start of the Sidmouth Town Band Concert season 8pm Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth 29th and 30th May The Very Best of Variety by the Sea, The Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth. Presented by Slightly Fat Features. Enjoy 70 minutes of non-stop action from the circus and theatre. 30th May Salcombe Regis Country Fair

June 2013

1st June Saturday Night Bee Gees, The Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth. An evening of BeeGee songs written by the Gibb brothers. Unforgettable hits from this amazing tribute band. 2nd June Five Star Swing with Hits from the Blitz, The Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth. An evening of Glen and Herb Miller's music to enjoy and reminisce to. I've seen this band before and they are extremely good. An enjoyable evening at the theatre. 2nd June Sidmouth Town Band Concert 8pm Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth 7th June Street Market Ottery St Mary 20+ stalls in Mill Street. 8:30am to 1:30pm. 9th June Sidmouth Town Band Concert 8pm Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth 8th June Sidmouth Community Market, St John Hall, Blackmore Drive 11th - 15th June The Wizard of Oz, The Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth. A family musical from the Sidmouth Musical Comedy group. Travel over the rainbow with Dorothy and all her friends. 15th June Sidmouth Arboretum Tree Day. Learn while you walk under and around some of the wonderful trees in the Sid Valley with help from Roy Lancaster OBE. 15th June Astro Imaging Course, Norman Lockyer Observatory, Salcome Hill, Sidmouth. 9:30am - 6pm. More information (opens in new window) 16th June Sidmouth Town Band Concert 8pm Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth 22nd and 23rd June Axminster Festival Crafts, arts, flower and horticultural show, food, live events and music, trade stands and much more. A really enjoyable day out. New season of rep from Paul Taylor Mills. Special season ticket offers available. A traditional country house mystery in which no one is really what they seem to be. A smooth talking blackmailer, Zombie Whammy cocktails and a collection of eccentrics gather for a party. A farce in three acts packed with mistaken identities and comic situations in the vicarage living room. Full of confusion and mishaps. Sure to entertain. 4th - 17th July Sidmouth Society of Artists Annual Exhibition. The Arts Centre, Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth 5th July Street Market Ottery St Mary 20+ stalls in Mill Street. 8:30am to 1:30pm. 6th - 8th July Secluded Gardens of Sidmouth. Enjoy some of the best private gardens in Sidmouth opened for this exclusive event by members of the Sidmouth in Bloom group. 7th July Sidmouth Town Band Concert 8pm Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth 11th - 17th July The Ghost Train by Arnold Ridley, The Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth. New season of rep from Paul Taylor Mills. Special season ticket offers available. Arnold Ridley became well known in later life as the gentle and confused Private Godfrey in Dad's Army. He is also well known for his 1923 play about a group of stranded travellers in a railway station. 13th July - 31st August 2013 Evolver Prize Exhibition at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Dowell Street Honiton. Photographs for the front cover of the Wessex Arts and Culture Guide. The winning photo and 49 runners up will be on show for you to enjoy. No admission charge. More information from the Gallery (opens in a new window). 14th July Sidmouth Town Band Concert 8pm Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth 12th - 14th July Secluded Gardens of Sidmouth. Another chance to visit some of the best private gardens in Sidmouth opened for this exclusive event by members of the Sidmouth in Bloom group. 13th July Sidmouth Community Market, St John Hall, Blackmore Drive 18th - 24th July Don't Dress For Dinner by Marc Camoletti, The Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth. New season of rep from Paul Taylor Mills. Special season ticket offers available. Originally written in French this farcical play moves rapidly through the usual gamut of pretense and parody. Bawdy and perhaps not as good as some of the other plays in this season. 21st July Sidmouth Lions Great Duck Derby. Lots of rubber ducks racing for charity causes on the River Sid in the Byes from 2pm. More information about the duck races (link opens in new window) 21st July Sidmouth Town Band Concert 8pm Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth 25th - 31st July The 39 Steps by John Buchan, The Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth. New season of rep from Paul Taylor Mills. Special season ticket offers available. Set in the 1930s this is a melodrama adapted from the book by John Buchan and the 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock. The play is nothing like the film or the book and is full of puns about Alfred Hitchcock's films. 28th July Sidmouth Town Band Concert 8pm Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth
