Seasons Traditional Tearoom
A visit to Seasons Traditional Tearoom is a memorable experience that will linger on well after you’ve returned home. It’s the classic old-fashioned teashop.
As you open the door a bell rings, just like all the shop doors used to when you were young. You receive a friendly greeting from Martin and an invitation to sit down at a table. The rest of the shop is cosy and inviting. There are beautifully laid tables with lace tablecloths. Everything is spotlessly clean and waiting for you to choose your perfect menu.
As you look around the first thing that you notice is the cake trolley, groaning with home made lemon sponge cake, chocolate cake, meringues and other delicious goodies. Tempting smells waft from the kitchen where Jenny is busy preparing the day’s specials.
Browse through the menu and you will find an array of temptation. As well as the Devon cream tea, which you won’t want to miss there’s plenty of other choices. A regular cream tea has either plain or fruit scones but in the autumn and winter you can also enjoy cheese and ginger scones.
If you are looking for lunch then there’s a selection of soups and salads. Alternatively you could try a West Country rarebit, which is made from cheddar cheese and cider and served with a poached egg on the top.
If you’ve still got some room for dessert Jenny is becoming very well known for her home-made cakes and pastries and I dare you to find a tastier apple pie. Not only that, you can have absolute confidence in the standard of the food because it’s backed up by a Seal of Excellence from East Devon District Council.
Last year Seasons Traditional Tearoom opened a tea garden. This has proved very popular and this year it has been extended with a new water feature that adds to the pleasure. Enjoy sitting in a pretty walled private area with comfortable chairs and tables. Flower beds, hanging baskets and climbing shrubs.
