Thursday, 9th February 2012, 8pm at the Grove Nite Club, Seaton.

For the first of the new monthly Guest Nights, Jurassic Folk is very privileged to have secured an artist of the international calibre of Tim Van Eyken.

After three years away from the folk scene while pursuing a career in acting, Tim makes a long awaited return. He is of course, well known as the winner of the first ever BBC Young Folk Awards over 10 years ago, and since then was a member of various acclaimed groups such as Dr Faustus and Waterson:Carthy.

With a new group simply called Tim van Eyken he produced the award winning album Stiffs Lovers Holymen Thieves. He was then lured away by the offer of a major role in the first production of War Horse - Cast Album, the runaway success of the decade, and he continued on the next year in the second production. He then decided he wanted to become as proficient in this acting lark as he was in folk music and embarked upon a 2 year stint at drama school.

And now, at last he is back to singing and playing various squeezeboxes and guitar, and we are very lucky to have secured him right at the start of this renaissance. As this is written his website, www.timvaneyken.com is awaiting an update, but is still worth checking out, and you can hear some of the great tracks from the CD mentioned above.

More details on the Jurassic Folk website, www.eastdevonfolk.org (opens in new window), or telephone 01297 20064. Also tickets at the Advance Price of £5 can be bought at the Online Shop on the website: On the door price, if any still available, will be £6.

Tim Van Eyken's return has been eagerly awaited by his many fans in the South West, and early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
